Bio
Life is a voyage through emotion. From the cliffs of pure elation to the caverns of inner turmoil, our mental journey has many sights and stops to explore. Sometimes we are able to stay in control. Other times we fall into the currents of our own feelings. At times like these, when swept away in self-doubt, we must look outside of ourselves to accept the help of an extended hand. Enter Meridian.
Meridian, although new as a collective, is no stranger to music nor the emotional journey it can evoke. Crafting music and messages that do not fit into a certain category, the band prides itself on defying genre and making the song for the sake of the song. In that non-conformity lies the heart of the five unique musicians who comprise Meridian.
In January 2009, guitarists Mark Sims and Shannon Nedved sought to map something different from the musical paths they have traveled in the past. They reached out to vocalist Tim Ziegler and quickly began creating the melodic vehicles for this introspective new tour of the mind. Soon after, the addition of Chris Gentry and Moe Martinez as Meridian’s rhythm section brought the ability for the band to shake the very foundation of every stop along the way.
Meridian has created a joyride that culminates at its live shows, a point of pride for the band not just for its commitment to flawless sound but for the emotional connection it forges with the audience. Meridian truly believes in the concept of entertaining mind, body, and soul. In this regard, music and the message are just the catalyst—the emotion and response are the victories.
Meridian is currently in the studio working with acclaimed producer David Castell, and plans to release its debut CD in the Spring of 2011.
